About the Role
Are you a people person with a passion for wildlife? Sylvan Heights Bird Park is looking for an enthusiastic Gift Shop Assistant to join our team. As the final stop for our visitors, you will play a key role in ensuring every guest leaves with a smile and a meaningful souvenir of their visit.
More than just a retail role, your work directly supports our mission of avian conservation and education. You’ll be surrounded by unique, nature-inspired products and help guests find the perfect gift to remember their experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Excellence: Greet visitors, answer questions about the park, and provide a friendly, helpful shopping experience.
- Sales Operations: Efficiently process transactions using our Point of Sale (POS) system and handle cash/card payments accurately.
- Merchandising: Help maintain a beautiful shop by restocking shelves and creating eye-catching displays of bird-themed items.
- Conservation Advocacy: Learn about our resident birds and conservation efforts to better assist guests with their purchases.
- Shop Upkeep: Ensure the gift shop remains clean, organized, and inviting throughout the day.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred but not required.
- A friendly, outgoing personality with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing light lifting for restocking.
- A genuine interest in birds, nature, or environmental conservation!
